ICIQ is looking for a Knowledge Transfer Technology (KTT) and Industrial Projects Area Manager.

ICIQ is committed to performing excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in the broad area of chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology, from either theoretical or experimental perspectives). The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (Full details on http://www.iciq.org/ ).

Our mission is to lead, from the vantage point of molecular science, cross-strategies for solving major social and economic challenges, such as climate change and sustainable supply of energetic and raw materials, thereby contributing to the establishment of a knowledge-based economy and improving citizens’ quality of life in our influence area.

The KTT and Industrial Projects Area Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing the KTT strategy at ICIQ, managing personnel, budgets and projects within the unit. The aim of ICIQ, through the KTT Department, is to strengthen collaborations with the industrial sector, notably by transferring ICIQ technologies to new or existing companies, as a means of increasing social impact and contributing to the economic support of the Institute. The selected candidate will manage a team of 5 direct reports, in charge of the following areas: Intellectual Property, Business Development, Med-Chem, CSOL and Crysforma units.

 

Responsibilities

• Planning Unit budgets.
• Defining the ICIQ strategy for the collaboration with the industrial sector and coordinating its implementation.
• Defining the ICIQ strategy for the Intellectual Property of research results in the form of patents, know-how etc. and coordinating the execution of this strategy.
• Defining the strategy for the valorisation of technologies and the licensing of ICIQ technologies to companies and spin-offs and coordinating its execution.
• Defining the marketing and commercial promotion plan of the ICIQ's capabilities in connection with the private sector.
• Support to ICIQ entrepreneurs in the creation of spin-off companies and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
• Direct supervision of the four KTT areas: Intellectual Property, Business Development, Med-Chem Unit and Crysforma.
• Leadership and team management.

 

Requirements

Knowledge and experience required:

• PhD Degree in science, preferably chemistry.
• Large experience in the Health Sciences sector: Pharma, Biotech, Molecular Biology.
• Large experience in development and maturation of proprietary technologies in the field of Renewal Energies, Catalysis and Life Sciences.
• Knowledge in resource management.
• Knowledge in the field of industrial property.
• Experience in patent writing.
• Demonstrable experience in stablish strategical partnerships with industrial companies.
• Experience in people management.
• Experience in patent licensing.
• Experience in management of start-up companies: business plan, growth, value creation and general supervision.
• Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
