Junior Workflows Engineer (RE1)

Context And Mission

Within the Computational Earth Sciences group, the successful candidate will be part of the Models and Workflows team, being in charge of developing software that will be used to execute modeling experiments in the most modern High-Performance Computing facilities.

The Models and Workflows team devotes to the research and development of methodologies and tools essential to efficiently use the variety of computing resources available at the BSC and in other HPC institutions. The team is composed of 11 members and has strong connections with the Performance and Data teams, as well as with the scientific groups.

The candidate will be part of a sub-team working on developing and testing models’ supporting software and workflow scripts and libraries for European state-of-the-art NWP and climate models, to be run using the Autosubmit workflow orchestrator, developed at BSC-ES. These models will be scaled and executed in production in the upcoming EuroHPC Pre Exascale systems.

Key Duties

• Develop and maintain the software stack and workflow scripts and libraries to execute Earth models on state-of-the-art HPCs.
• Contribute to the execution of automated unit and integration tests.
• Collaborate with the team in an Agile framework and attend project meetings with members of the department and other institutions for the project interest.
• Contribute to the porting and testing of state-of-the-art parallel Earth models in Pre-Exascale systems.
