Offer Description

The VHIR offers a biomedical researcher vacancy/position to work as a Junior Postdoctoral Researcher within the Cardiovascular Diseases Laboratory. The Researcher will carry out the Research Project: Exploring solutions to health challenges through disruptive science, advanced therapies and systems medicine with file number FORT23 /00034.

Main responsibilities and duties

Characterization of the role of glycative stress on senescent phenotype and its potential paracrine effects in cardiomyocytes of aged mice and elderly patients: mechanistic studies and therapeutic opportunities.

It will be necessary to carry out:

• Advanced techniques on cell and mitochondrial pathophysiology
• In vitro enzymatic assays, PLA, ELISA, high resolution imaging, flow cytometry
• Intracellular fluorometry
• Cell-to-cell interaction studies (cardiomyocytes-macrophages)
• Advanced statistical analysis with SPSS software.

Education and qualifications

Required:

• University Graduate in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine or equivalent + PhD degree, preferentially cardiovascular-oriented or aging-oriented.
• Strong research background in experimental and/or translational biomedical reseach documented by previous scientific publications.
• Experience in animal handling and animal welfare, with updated animal manipulation courses.
• Applicant must be proficient in English, both spoken and written.

 

Experience and knowledge

Desired:

• Experience in laboratory techniques, both biochemical and imaging techniques (W.blot, PCR, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, cross-linking, histopathology, immunofluorescence, FACS, confocal microscopy)
• Experience in cell culture/cell isolation models
• Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, self-motivation and social skills as key personal abilities
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Knowledge on statistics applied to health science
• Previous experience in aging research will be highly valued.

• Gross annual salary: 27.592,08 euros (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
