The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a non-profit research institute based in Barcelona and dedicated to advancing our understanding about leukaemia and related disorders, in partnership with the University of Barcelona and University Autònoma of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in three clinical campuses: i) Clinic Hospital, ii) Sant Pau Hospital and iii) Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. IJC serves as a collaborative hub for basic investigators and physicians to work together on fundamental biological and clinical aspects of leukaemia. The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is looking for an International Business Development Manager to positioning our institution as a world centre scientific diplomacy starting internationally and all continents.
Position aim is to establish synergies and strategic collaborations between the Institute and research, health, or government institutions abroad with a common interest and a complementary approach to contribute significantly to the development of science in these common issues in question and, ultimately, increase the scientific productivity and competitiveness of Europe and the world in these areas of research and innovation.
What we need
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Sciences or similar.
- Proficiency level in English; fluency in other languages will be a plus.
- Proven working experience in international business development or relevant role. Minimum 4 years of experience.
- Proven working experience in diplomacy. Experience in international consulates will be highly evaluated.
- Experience in management health and medical and business authorities.
- Desirable competences: Communication and proven leading negotiation, Team management, objective, and customer-oriented skills; high performance capacity, outstanding listening, and planning skills.
- Will be advantageous: knowledge of public and private research founding systems and previous experience working with international collaborators in health field.

Main Responsibilities
- Develop scientific strategy in an international vision through synergy between the IJC Director, Strategic Director and Managing Director, encouraging above all the involvement of key interest groups, research group and administration.
- Develop a growth strategy focused on financial gain.
- Develop Business intelligence to analyze scientific productivity and activity and their impact by strategic international vision.
- Estimate feasibility on markets regarding local business frameworks and conditions (legal, financial ...) and establish contacts to the local authorities.
- Develop active commercial networking activities through international fairs > before & while attending the events.
- Look for business opportunities through representatives of other countries and help detect calls for public tenders funded by the European Commission, as part of its international, health and neighbourhood policy with third countries.
- Participatory and integrative strategy with IJC support areas (Research area, HR, Projects, and Communication units) will be achieved.
- Will be advantageous experience in Severo Ochoa accreditation and Europa Redes y Gestores projects.
- Exploration and membership of European associations and networks of thematic knowledge and excellence aligned with the strengths and scientific priorities of the Institute.
