Offer Description

Professor Antonio Penta (ICREA, UPF and Barcelona GSE) is looking to hire a post-doctoral researcher. The position is full time and will be based at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain. The expected starting date is October, 2024. The appointment is for two years, with renewal for two extra years, contingent upon satisfactory performance. The position is ideal for economists who recently obtained a Ph.D. with a research focus on economic theory (preferably behavioral decision theory, but also game theory, and economic theory more broadly).

The position is funded by an ERC-Consolidator grant number 101089139, on “Personality, Preferences and Reference Dependence” (some information about the broad research themes can be found here: https://www.antoniopenta.eu/erc-consolidator-grant-2024-2028/ ).

The position is fully research-based. The main objective is to collaborate with Prof. Antonio Penta and his coauthors to help advance the ERC research project above. The collaboration may involve various tasks related to our ongoing projects, but it is open to more extensive collaborations on novel projects, on the broad theme of individual decision making, emotions, and personality, that pertain to our research agenda in this ERC project.

Research Description

The research is on questions of decision theory and game theory and mechanism design. The job duties include:

1. Theoretical work: proof-reading, solving models (both strategic and of individual decision making), and calibration exercises.

2. Design and implementation of lab experiments.

3. Preparing literature reviews or summaries of research papers.

4. Attention to detail and documenting the research tasks performed are a crucial part of the job.
