The Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture La Mayora (IHSM, UMA-CSIC) offers a maximum of 3 contracts for postdoctoral researchers that are aimed at consolidating activities in which the institute leads research at an international level in horticultural and subtropical and Mediterranean fruit trees. Formalization of contracts is conditioned to the obtaining by the candidates of one of 60 EMERGIA21 – Junta de Andalucia grants. The EMERGIA programme is open to experienced researchers of any nationality who wish to work at universities and research institutions in Andalusia, Spain. Eligible candidates must have obtained their PhD 5 to 12 years before the call deadline. The Fellowship will cover the salary + up to 140.000 euros of funding to undertake a specific research project within their field of expertise.

The CSIC partner of the IHSM offers a maximum of 2 contracts from the AGR area in any of the following topics:

Studies related to ecophysiological approaches in the crops studied at the IHSM. Knowledge of the genetic and functional interactions between plants, pathogens (viruses, bacteria and fungi) and, where appropriate, with the insect vectors of these pathogens or with organisms that cause pests in crops of interest to the IHSM. The application of new bioinformatic tools for data mining and functional and genetic studies in plant crops. Studies of genetic variability and knowledge of the genes involved in the production and quality of fruits and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses of important crops such as strawberries, tomatoes, melons, avocados, mangoes, etc., with genetic, genomic, metabolomic and biotechnological approaches. Ecological studies of organisms that cause pests and diseases (and organisms for biological control) in crops of interest to the IHSM.

CSIC partner of the IHSM also affers the `posiibility of a maximum of 1 contract from the BIO area for studies to understand the molecular mechanisms of plants or their pathogens applicable to crops.
