Offer Description

  • Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher looking for a competitive project?

Dr. Nausikaä El-Mecky , established at the Department of Humanities of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra  (Barcelona), is looking for candidates interested in submitting a proposal for the MSCA-PF in the destruction, vandalism, censorship, fear and suppression of images and art from prehistory until today.

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme (MSCA-PF) is a prestigious European funding programme that supports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe. The scheme offers highly competitive salary and research costs.

About us

NAUSIKAÄ EL-MECKY is Tenure Track professor in History of Art & Visual Culture at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. She is an art historian who is passionate about interdisciplanary and cooperative research which uses both academic and creative methods. Outreach is an essential part of her work and she is keen on working with and learning from non-academic groups and voices.

Her area of expertise are dangerous images in any context, from the stone-age until today, in any geographical context. As such, she is interested in supervising postdoctoral researchers that are either explicitly related to this topic (e.g. censorship, vandalism, iconoclasm) as well as more broadly on art in public space, the relation between art and morality, and art and politics. Furthermore, she is interested in supervising theses on the following periods and topics: Reformation, French Revolution, Nazi Germany, Generative AI and Digital Art History, Social media and art, monuments and counter-monuments and eco-fasicsm and far-rigth aesthetics.

The Department of Humanities has been very successful in obtaining MSCA-PF projects: since 2015, 22 researchers have joined the Department with such contracts.
