THE ANDALUSIAN PUBLIC FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH OF MALAGA IN BIOMEDICINE AND HEALTH (FIMABIS) NEEDS TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL WITH THE FOLLOWING PROFILE: COMPUTER ENGINEER .

Project:    CAPTURE.

Principal Investigator: BERNARDO HERRERA IMBRODA (IBIMA/IBIMA GROUP B-11 (CO IP: DAVID OLMOS HIDALGO AND ELENA CASTRO- 12 DE OCTOBER FOUNDATION, PROSTATE CANCER GENOMICS AND THERAPEUTICS GROUP..

Place of performance: The functions may be carried out in the two locations where the group's activities are carried out, mainly in FUNDACIÓN 12 DE OCTUBRE (MADRID) but also in IBIMA (MÁLAGA) according to the profile, and availability of the selected candidate or the needs of the cluster.

Functions to be developed :

We are looking for a highly motivated Computer Engineer to join our laboratories. The candidate must have the computing skills necessary to provide support to our researchers. The role will primarily involve maintaining and managing our resource data on the High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, maintaining and managing databases, and ensuring the smooth operation of our variant call pipeline.

We generate large amounts of genomic data from cancer patient cohorts from our clinical projects and perform variant calling in variant interpretation to identify new biomarkers. We consider that this goal can only be achieved from a multidisciplinary perspective, which is why we encourage interaction between biologists, doctors, bioinformaticians and engineers in the laboratory.

Minimum Requirements: They will be accredited through certification by a competent Body or Responsible Declaration.

1) Bachelor's degree or diploma in Technical Engineering in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

2). Optional master's degree in computer engineering, computer science or computer science.

Valuable Requirements :

Note: the valuable merits must be accredited in the CV through completion of specific training, technical experience through participation in projects and publications with a specific description of the tasks carried out by the candidate. They will be accredited through certification by a competent body or Responsible Declaration.

Knowledge and practical experience in (up to 7 points) will also be considered:

  • Extensive knowledge in IT and computer science. At least two years of experience. Maximum 2 points.
  • Practical experience managing high-performance computing cluster environments (0.25 for minimum 3 months, 0.5 for 6-12 months, 0.25 for each additional year) Maximum 1 point.
  • Proficiency in database management, with a focus on SQL. Experience in data management and processing. Maximum 1 point.
  • Experience in GNU/Linux cluster environments and experience using programming and scripting languages ​​such as Java, Perl, Python or shell, (0.25 for minimum 3 months, 0.5 for 6-12 months, 0.50 for each additional year) Maximum 2 point.
  • Optional experience in bioinformatics tools such as BioPerl and Bioconductor (within the R statistical programming environment). Maximum 1 point.
  • It will also be taken into account:

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • High level of English, minimum B2, spoken and written.

    Contract details :

    • Contracting modality: Contract for scientific-technical activities. (art. 23 bis of the Science and Technology Law Law 14/2011)
    • Location: IBIMA/GRUPO IBIMA B-11 (Translational Research Group in Genitourinary Oncology) and Health Research Institute Hospital 12 de Octubre
    • Gross annual remuneration: €28,000 Fixed
