Offer Description

The objectives to be achieved in the framework of the project are:

• Providing support to the current research line on the application of Process Engineering methods and tools, concepts and ideas from Process Integration and Supply Chain Management, to address the optimization of process networks within the framework of the Circular Economy paradigm.
• Developing tools for the systematic identification of integration opportunities between different plants, opportunities of industrial symbiosis, and opportunities for closing material loops in process networks. Development of tools for the assessment of the economic and environmental impact associated to such opportunities. Development of software and optimization tools. Developing tools for addressing these problems from the perspective of different conflicting criteria (multi-objective optimization) and the consideration of different stakeholders and decision makers (multi-participant problems and game theory).
• Follow up of the Industrial Applications addressed in this project: Waste Water Treatment Plant, Heat Integration and utilities sharing in the Oil&Gas Industry, and upcycling of Polyethylene using Pyrolysis.
• Project documentation, reporting and web maintenance.                  

The tasks to be performed include programming (Python, VBA), using of process simulators such as (AspenPlus, UniSim, etc.), using of math programming tools (GAMS, Pyomo), using of data bases and ontologies (Protegé), and using machine-learning toolboxes in Matlab
