Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 20 Feb 2022

We are seeking for a highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral researcher to work on the research project PLEC2021-007930 with the aim of identifying new sources of broad-spectrum resistance to septoria tritici blotch in durum wheat. The work will be performed at UPM at the Department of Biochemistry and Plant Biology and at the Center of Biotechnology and Genomics of Plants (CBGP/UPM-INIA). The postdoctoral researcher will work in the characterization of Zymoseptoria tritici infections and will perform genome predictions and genome-wide association analysis on wheat and on the pathogen. In this project we seek to perform genome analysis to gain a better understanding of the pathosystem and to predict the evolution and incidence of pathogens to anticipate future pathogen attacks to crops. We are looking for an independent and enthusiastic researcher with interest in plant-pathogen interactions, quantitative genetics, plant breeding, and application of new genomic technologies. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with three research teams working on plant-pathogen interactions (A. Sánchez-Vallet), plant genomics (P. Giraldo and L. Pascual) and genome-assisted breeding (J. Isidro).

Type of contract : Temporary contract of 12 months that can be extended 2 additional years. Salary will be fixed according to the Polytechnique University of Madrid (UPM) regulations (category of Junior Doctor Researcher).
