The Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), located in Solsona (Pre-Pyrenees, 120 km from Barcelona), Spain, employs app. 100 staff, produces >100 scientific articles annually and has a turnover of app. 6 Mil. €/year. CTFC’s research activity is organised around three programs: 1) Multifunctional Forest Management; 2) Landscape Dynamics and Biodiversity; 3) Bioeconomy and Governance. A Project Promotion Office gives support to all the researchers and technicians in managing projects.

TERMS OF THE APPOINTMENT

  • This contract may start on mid-September 2022 (start could be delayed to October if necessary).
  • It is a full-time position with a duration of 2 years.
  • The candidate will be based at CTFC in Solsona (Catalonia / Spain), with the possibility of doing remote working 2 days a week.
  • Working day: full time, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary: annual gross salary according to skills and experience provided.
  • KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the empirical data collected.
  • Organization of participatory workshops, co-learning labs and project meetings.
  • Publication of the main results in scientific peer-reviewed journals and reports.
  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Doctoral degree in relevant academic studies, including but not restricted to forestry engineering, environmental sciences, biology, geography, sociology or political sciences.
  • Interest and experience in social and political issues in the field of forestry.
  • Interest and experience in empirical social research methodology (content analysis, interviews, surveys, etc) and participatory tools.
  • Experience in publishing scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Advanced spoken and written level of English and Spanish. Catalan is an advantage.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Word, PWP) and Quantitative Analysis Software (SPSS) and Qualitative Analysis (NVIVO).
  • DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in forest-related policies analysis.
  • Experience in facilitating processes of co-designing with relevant stakeholders.
  • Participation in European research projects.
  • Driving licence.

  • Pre-selection: verification of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
  • Selection (from August 29th to September 1st 2022): assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria and interview.
