2022-23_1_23 Support scientist for the development of new technologies for gravitational wave data...

Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 10 Oct 2022

For this call we are looking for a scientist to support our research in gravitational wave data analysis and, in particular, our involvement in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the Einstein Telescope project and the LISA Consortium. The selected person will be involved in the research lines (LIA-3) ‘Gravitational wave experiments and multi-messenger astronomy’, and (LIA-8) ‘Computing, big data and artificial intelligence’ of the project ‘Advanced technologies for the exploration of the universe and its components’. In particular, he/she will be involved in: - Improvement of LIGO-Virgo search pipelines for gravitational wave signals. - GPU software development and machine learning for continuous gravitational-wave data analysis. - Development of GPU acceleration of waveforms and parameter estimation codes for compact binary coalescences for present and future detectors (LISA, ET). - LVK GW data analysis research. Research in the gravitational physics group at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) spans a wide range of topics, including gravitational wave data analysis, waveform modelling and numerical relativity. The group consists of PIs Alicia Sintes and Sascha Husa and faculty members David Keitel and Jaume Carot, as well as several postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, and it is involved in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the LISA Consortium and the Einstein Telescope project.
