General description of Internacional Office:

Recently, the University of Primorska has been achieving extraordinary successes, therefore It became part of the Transform4Europe European University and is one of the 35 members of the Network of Innovative European Universities, which advise the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. In addition, the university has been internationally active since the beggining.

The Rectorate of the University unites 4 sectors and several offices. The sectors cover the basic substantive areas of the university's operation – education, research, internationalization and quality. Internationalization is the driver of the quality of the university's operation, which is why a coordinated strategic approach is extremely important. The field is broad in terms of content and fits into all aspects of the university's activities.

The current team in the field of internationalization consists of the international services of all 6 faculties and employees in the sector at the rector's office. The team is coordinated by the vice-rector for internationalization and the assistant rector. Together, they take care of day-to-day operations in the area and develop additional services for foreigners, mobile students and employees, as well as in the project area. These include carrying out mobility, organizing events (conferences, summer schools, workshops, orientation days for foreign students, preparatory summer modules for foreign students), preparing content for websites, providing up-to-date information to all users, cooperation with other institutions in the field of services (administrative unit, police, ministries) and partner institutions in the development and direction of content (universities, research institutes, networks and other organizations).

Internationalization is connected with all administrative areas and is often the driver of development in other areas, so cooperation with colleagues is key, and respect, proactivity, independence and engagement of all who work in the area are important.

The specificity of the field is that it has infinite potential. Everyone decides whether to work monotonously and just fulfill commitments, or whether to take advantage of opportunities and develop and creatively lead an area where almost anything is possible.

The head of service will be involved in all processes, so we are looking for an open, flexible, independent, proactive person who is not afraid of the fast pace of the international space and who can communicate in an adapted manner with different people (with pupils, with students, with employees, with partners and with cabinets European commissioners and ministers and ambassadors).

Task to be performed:

  • Coordinating of internal office in cooperation with the vice-rector and assistant rector,
  • Representing the university with partners and participating in international initiatives,
  • Transfer of practices to UP and their implementation,
  • Organization of meetings and events,
  • Regular cooperation with other services and maintenance of relations with partner organizations,
  • Fitting into the environment,
  • Developing welcome services for students and employees from abroad,
  • Proactive operation and representation of the university in the European university area,
  • Ensuring that UP maintains the good name of a fast, operational and innovative partner in all procedures,
  • Cooperation with the wider management of the university in directing content,
  • Carrying out other related work as instructed by the general secretary, vice-rectors and the rector.

We are searching for : 

An independent, flexible, energetic, operative and proactive person who is inclusive and knows how to work with other people, is communicative and knows how to adapt communication to different interlocutors.

Someone who is not afraid of challenges, knows how to recognize opportunities and is not afraid of working with people, tables and numbers.

A person who makes informed decisions and is also aware of what this means operationally, and is ready to implement them himself.

A person who is not afraid of leadership challenges. Management experience and a desire for further career advancement and knowledge acquisition are desirable.

Working in an international environment is spread over time, so working hours are not fixed.

Required education - ISCED 7 formal education, which can relate to:

  • Master's degree,
  • specialization after higher education (before Bologna reform),
  • university education (before Bologna reform).
