Offer Description

The dissertation thesis will focus on structural studies of extracellular polysaccharides, which represent an important group of secondary metabolites produced into the environment by microscopic algae and cyanobacteria. For microscopic organisms, these biopolymers play mainly a protective role. These exopolysaccharides exhibit interesting rheological and biological properties, therefore they become interesting for potential applications. However, their chemical composition is relatively complex and so far, only a limited number of structures of these biopolymers have been described in the literature. For potential biotechnological applications, it is necessary to know their chemical composition, properties and determine the primary structure. Structural analysis of exopolysaccharides involves the application of chemical, physico-chemical, spectral and chromatographic methods.
