Job Description

Reporting to Head of Systems and Platform, you will be part of highly motivated and passionate IT team to explore, architect and deploy innovative technologies to achieve data centre transformational goals of moving towards a more agile, secure, operational efficient and sustainable organization.

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

The role and responsibilities of the Technical Lead include the following:

  • Identify technology trends and emerging issues that may impact systems infrastructure service delivery and, where necessary, make recommendation on alternative courses of action or to rectify the issue.
  • Analyse, Design, Plan, Enhance and Implement VMware virtualize infrastructure, Hybrid Cloud infrastructure, Cloud Management Platform, Operational automation and monitoring tools and Security related tools.  
  • Conduct capacity planning, infrastructure performance analysis and optimization, introduce improvements and enhancement to existing infrastructure and processes. 
  • Collaborate and work with project teams, users and stakeholders to understand their business requirement and IT challenges. Provide technical solution, design best practices and response to project team enquiry for Compute resources and operational support requirement leveraging on on-premises virtualization infrastructure, hybrid cloud resources or public cloud resources taking into consideration the technical requirement, security, cost effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Provide L2 / L3 support and oversee the infrastructure operational team in the proper administration and timely resolution of critical incident. Perform root cause analysis, present problem report finding and follow through the preventive recommendation.   
  • Lead technical project implementation. 
  • Plan procurement schedule, develop technical requirement specifications and carry out procurement activities to ensure required hardware and software is procured successfully and timely. 
  • Conduct regular training, briefing and engagement sessions with department IT administrators and applications team on infrastructure services, offering and best practices. 

Qualifications
  • A relevant university degree with at least 8 years of relevant working experience. 
  • At least 4 years of relevant experiences as technical lead in providing solution and participate in infrastructure deployment projects.  
  • Good technical knowledge and hands on experience in: 
    • Server administration
    • VMware virtualizations and orchestration technology
    • Software Defined Data Centre design and implementation
    • Hybrid cloud and public cloud services (AWS or Azure)
    • Systems related security and operational tools 
    • Containers
    • Orchestration
  • More than 4 years of practical hand on and administration experiences working with multiple Windows and/or Unix/Linux OS such as CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and/or HP-UX.
  • Strong understanding of IT related services, processes and the governance that encompassed them. 
  • Certification VMWare Certified Professional VCAP or/and AWS Certified Solution Architect, will be an added advantage. 
  • Experiences in developing requirement specification and involvement in procurement activities will be an advantage.
  • Able to work with a diversified and high performing team and align to business objectives and outcomes. 
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail with the ability to deep dive when required. Able to prioritize what technologies and services have more significance in the infrastructure over others, as well as be able to understand and define technology stack.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented with excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
