The mission of the School of Economics is to accelerate the growth of SMU by creating a world-class centre of research and teaching in economics. Economic research forms a key factor in the development of SMU as a foremost academic institution in generating cutting-edge research with global impact and producing broad-based, creative and entrepreneurial leaders for the knowledge-based economy. One area of current research that several of the school's faculty members are actively engaged in concerns the economics of ageing. This research is conducted under the auspices of SMU's Centre for Research on the Economics of Ageing, which leads a $10 million multidisciplinary project on Singapore’s ageing population secured under MOE’s Tier 3 competitive grant programme.
The School of Economics (SOE) at Singapore Management University invites applications for a part-time teaching position in Health Economics, Economics and Society, Introductory Statistics, Microeconomics, and related subjects. The adjunct faculty is expected to deliver a mutually agreed number of sections of the undergraduate courses in Economics and Statistics in each academic term. Initial offer is likely to be either one or two sections per term. Applicants should email, in PDF format, (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) list of economics and statistic courses that the candidate is qualitied to teach including relevant experiences, and (3) teaching evaluations (if any), to economicscv@smu.edu.sg (Attention: Ms Cheong Pei Qi). Although we accept applications on a rolling basis, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by 15 March 2023. Expected start date is 1 August 2023 or otherwise mutually agreed. Qualifications
Applicants should have at least Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related fields, but those with a PhD degree will be strictly preferred. Experience in active and blended learning pedagogy and a track record of excellent teaching will be a plus.
