Senior Research Scientist position is available immediately in Prof Chng Wee Joo’s groups for a highly motivated PhD graduate with experience in Bioinformatics (computational genomics). The focus of the lab is on deciphering transcriptional and genomic abnormalities in the context of blood cancer, including epigenetic and superenhancer deregulation, using single cell sequencing amongst other genomics techniques. Those who are interested in computational genomics, particularly in analysis of single cell sequencing data, superenhancer and chromatic interaction data, and integration of various genomics data, are encouraged to apply.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will analyze and integrate in-house genomic (RNA-seq, small RNA-seq, microarray etc) data sets and also utilize publicly available genomic/clinical data sets to identify novel biological patterns and regulatory mechanisms. The candidate should: 

    • Possess a PhD degree in bioinformatics, genomics, computer science, statistics, or other related fields
    • Have at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience
    • Strong track record of research achievement evidenced by high-quality publications in a relevant field
    • High-level experience in hands-on use of a wide range of relevant research methods including molecular and cell biology, advanced fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry,
    • Strong quantitative and statistics background, as well as strong programming skills (e.g. Python, Perl, C, C++, Java, R or other related programming knowledge), and excellent skills in handling Linux clusters and genomic databases
    • Ability to work independently and creatively to solve experimental problems
    • Effective communication for presentation of scientific work including scientific papers and reports

    PREFERENCES

    • Prior experience in research on molecular mechanisms in carcinogenesis and hematology
    • Prior experience with genetically engineered murine models and in vivo drug efficacy testing using patient derived xenograft models
