We are looking for a Senior Research Assistant / Research Associate / Research Fellow to join our multi-disciplinary team of researchers and work on a project to improve the experience of airport users by focusing on the airport as a complex, dynamic product-service system consisting of built environment, operations, technologies and services and involving multiple stakeholders. We aim to better understand, model and improve user experience and behaviour in airports, to develop models to predict the effects of changes such as growth of passenger numbers and the need to be more inclusive, and to create and evaluate alternatives to the current built environments, technologies, operations and services.

We are looking for candidates who can:

  • Identify what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, leveraging new data collection processes, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Design and execute empirical studies, test hypotheses, and build models of user experience and behaviour.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis.
  • Apply advanced statistical and predictive modelling techniques to build decision systems to determine the effects of change and recommend areas of interventions
  • Contribute to the creation and evaluation of the interventions using a user-centric design approach and in collaboration with the company
  • Communicate the research and its findings through peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, and through reports and presentations to the company.

The candidate will be working closely with the PI, the research assistant in the project, the companies involved, and researchers in related projects. The candidate will be helping to drive the project, engage the necessary partners, and support the administrative requirements of the project. The candidate is expected to participate in meetings, workshops and other events, and contribute to their organisation.

The candidate is expected to be motivated, independent and resourceful and an excellent team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent writing and presentation development skills.

  • Masters / PhD in mathematics, statistics, modelling or related fields;
  • Experience in engineering, architectural or organisational applications and in behavioural modelling are an advantage.
  • Preferably 3 or more years of relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience;
  • Solid knowledge of statistical techniques and proficiency in the use of statistical packages (like SAS or R)
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and choice modelling.

The willingness to learn design methods or the demonstrated competency to design will be an added advantage
