The Senior Manager, Student Life (Leadership Development) is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of staff as well as coordinating, managing and executing key student development initiatives in SIT. The Senior Manager will also be tasked with daily operations of the division, which includes project management, student relationship development and partnership management. The position contributes to the creation of a vibrant student life, building upon the division’s core 8 Pillars: Leadership Development, Global Citizenship, Community Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, Performing Arts, Sports Development, Student Organisations and Counselling Services. These pillars exist to create a holistic educational environment to enrich students, develop their leadership skills and create opportunities for students to network with industry partners.

The Senior Manager reports directly to the Assistant Director of Student Life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely and quality delivery of key Leadership Development programmes, including, Annual Leadership Training, SITizen Ambassadors Programme & development of Micro Modules.
  • Active contribution in the strategic planning and review of the division’s work plans, resource allocation and team development.
  • Mentor and guide the internal staff within the division in developing and implementing programmes focusing on Leadership Development.
  • Manage the pillar’s structure and programme design/execution/evaluation, ensuring optimal student engagement, experience and learning, through continuous updates from the latest models, training practices, trends and technology.
  • Ensuring that the pillar provides the necessary training and staff mentorship to the students, developing their potential and encouraging personal growth throughout the students’ service term.
  • Ensure students' safety and well-being by developing relevant initiatives and programmes, including risk management, responding to issues and challenges in a diverse environment, and providing guidance and leadership in resolving complex matters and problems.
  • Manage and support the students’ projects and programmes, reviewing and evaluating their proposals, administrative and logistical matters.
  • Responsible for expanding the network of and maintaining the relationship with external partners and stakeholders allowing enriching opportunities for students to develop their personal and professional skills.
  • Helps students understand and build meaningful relationships with multiple partners within the community.
  • Responsible in ensuring Pillar’s accuracy, prudence and ethical practices in procurement and budget management.
  • Responsible in the timely and accurate delivery of the pillar’s reports and updates on key Student Life platforms.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned by Director of Student Life.

Job Requirements

  • Degree from a good University with at least 10 years’ experience in a similar position in an educational/community/corporate environment.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in people management, leading a team as a reporting officer.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, to connect, motivate, inspire and bridge students with staff.
  • Excellent presentation/reporting (verbal and written) skills, ability to convey key messages to others effectively and convincingly.
  • Creative design and layout skills and experience, with an eye for details.
  • Passionate, positive attitude with the ability to be innovative and think out of the box.
  • Adaptable, able to multitask and work independently within tight timelines.
  • Committed team player, responsible, reliable and able to work with others to achieve division mission.
  • Strong organizational and coordinating capabilities with excellent administrative skills
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of office hours and on weekends.
