Job Description

The Business Manager and will assist Head of the Development Office in leading and overseeing the daily functions of the Development Office. The incumbent will captain management of efficiency and effectiveness of business operations, to push towards financial and operational objectives and thereby ensuring strategic goals are achieved.

 

  • Strategize, execute and drive business directives and growth strategies, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement and evaluating progress / performance; this includes setting clear targets, financial planning and risk management
  • Design, project manage and implement business optimization strategies to transform current business practices, systems and methods into more high quality, efficient (way of doing things) and cost-effective methodologies (such as lesser time required to deliver) while at the same time, compliant to DVO and NUS requirements to achieve business objectives
  • Review business operations, determine their strengths, weaknesses, operational effectiveness and opportunities to be able to make recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks, optimize processes and formulate action plans to achieve business-wide objectives.
  • Perform root cause analysis of potential problems and provide effective resolutions to optimize business functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with management to develop innovative business process improvements based on market and competitive trends and translates them into actionable and quantitative plans.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management
  • Establish and grow relationships with key partners, both internally and externally
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements and manage competing resource and priorities
  • Establish cost parameters and manage overall ‘P&L’, assessing overall performance against objectives

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years’ track record of strong managerial experience
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work partners
  • Possess passion and commitment for continuous improvement; working with teams to achieve excellent business results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a group and individual setting; tactful and credible
  • Collaborative, supportive, calm under pressure, solution-focused to ensure maximum performance and engagement
  • Well-versed in managing day-to-day operational activities, including projects, human resources and business / financial processes
