The NIE Library and Information Services Centre is seeking a creative, innovative, and service-oriented candidate who is able to work independently and collaboratively in transforming the library for the 21st century.

The position manages the online chat service, FAQ knowledgebase, and centralised reporting of enquiry transactions; develops the NIE Archives Collection, delivers information and research support services; promotes scholarly communication programmes; participates in library initiatives; and serves as a library liaison to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Unit representatives on development of online chat services, FAQ services and knowledgebase, and reference analytics for tracking and reporting of enquiry transactions.

  • Responsible for archival, digitisation, preservation, and dissemination of NIE institutional materials and niche/unique resources.

  • Develop policies, procedures and standards for information services and curation of NIE institutional materials and niche/unique resources.

  • Deliver research support services such as consultations on author identity management, citation reports, data management planning, scholarly publishing and publishing options, intellectual property rights and licensing of open access content, scoping/systematic reviews, use of research metrics.

  • Collaborate on development and delivery of training and learning resources in relation to institutional repository, information services and research support services.

  • Collaborate on user engagement and outreach initiatives in relation to scholarly communication.

General and liaison duties

  • Provide information services via role-based accounts, online chat platform and at the Service Point as scheduled, including evening and weekend shifts.

  • Foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups.

  • Collaborate with academic staff to plan, deliver, and assess instructional and outreach programmes.

  • Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating, and recommending resources.

  • Compile statistics and analyse data for reporting and decision making.

  • Contribute to library projects, peer training and staff development.

Requirements

  • A University degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science.

  • At least 10 years of library experience in an academic and research library setting.

  • Working knowledge of institutional repositories, digitised content, and metadata standards.

  • Experience in research support services and an understanding of the higher education research environment.

  • Experience in collaborating with academic staff and other stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with issues, trends and technologies related to scholarly communication and archives collection.

  • Familiarity with LibAnswers, LibChat, LibGuides, RefAnalytics, Dataverse, DSpace and Web authoring.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.

  • Keen learner who is adaptable and able to work independently and in a team environment.
