We invite suitable candidates to apply for the Laboratory Operations, Senior Executive role to provide an overall support to the laboratories. The role involves comprehensive management and maintenance of lab resources.

Responsibilities :

Manage and maintain the lab resources:

  • Ensure that all equipment is fully operational and serviceable.

  • Manage requests for use of lab facilities and resources.

  • Propose budget for replacing obsolete and faulty equipment annually.

  • Maintain adequate supply of consumables.

  • Manage access rights of all core equipment and specialized resources.

  • Attend to all general maintenance of the lab such as air-conditioning, lighting, and general fittings etc.

Manage lab assets and inventories:

  • Maintain an up-to-date record of all assets.

  • Manage asset loans, transfers & disposal process when necessary.

Provide support for research/teaching resources:

  • Configure the basic set-up for all equipment.

  • Administer servers and virtual desktop environments, if any.

  • Provide technical support to users regarding system allocation and configuration and use of core equipment.

  • Caution users regarding copyrights violations and illegal software usage.

  • Keep centres updated and in compliance of the prevailing IT policies.

Sourcing and procuring of research/lab resources:

  • Assist faculty and Final Year Projects’ supervisors in sourcing and evaluation of new equipment/software.

  • Make requests for replacement/purchase of core equipment, such as workstations, development boards and servers etc.

  • Receipt and verification of purchased items to be in good working conditions.

Support School’s teaching/graduate research lab centralized computing equipment:

  • Manage resource and capacity requirements.

  • Review lab centralized equipment infrastructure design architecture to ensure availability of resources to support end user project requirements.

  • Administer the user access, resource, capacity allocation, and directives for the private and public cloud services.

  • Manages and supports school’s GPU computing clusters and specialized STEM applications used in scientific computing environments.

  • Provide guidance and support to users to utilize the available cloud services.

  • Oversee asset inventory and record documentation for the system in the premises.

  • Propose and process the placement and procurement for the system due for maintenance renewal and end-of-life support. 

  • Facilitate the system shifting and disposal, within timeline to make way for new hosting.

  • Provide email, onsite and remote technical support to school end-users.

Ensure workplace safety and security in the lab:

  • Ensure that the lab is secure and tidy for use by students and staff.

  • Manage access rights to users of the lab.

  • Proactively manage workplace safety in compliance with NTU guidelines.

Involvement in Other Duties:

  • Member of an administrative committee in the school

  • Provide support in school’s outreach or other activities.

  • Provide administrative support such as mark checking.


Requirements:

  • You should possess a bachelor’s degree in IT related studies with at least 2 years’ relevant experience in managing and maintenance of IT equipment.

  • You should have industrial knowledge in IT domains which includes software, hardware, and servers.

  • Candidates with experience in Linux and basic programming experience preferred.

  • You should keep abreast of IT developments.

  • You must be pro-active and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

  • You are able to work independently and be a team player when required.

  • You should possess good communication and customer service skills.
