The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by the National Research Foundation, Singapore Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and National University of Singapore (NUS). Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from the emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness, and control microbial biofilm communities. The union of these fields has established a new discipline of environmental life sciences engineering (ELSE).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage information technology and computer systems, which includes, but is not limited to, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting computer hardware and software, and CCTV administration.

  • Implement, organize, and deploy according to SCELSE policies and procedures.

  • Administer computer, telecommunications, audio & video (AV), and information systems.

  • Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems.

  • Act in alignment with NTU policies, Board of Governance requirements, user needs, and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.

  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time. Where required, liaise with NTU CITS, vendors, and contractors to identify root causes identify control measures, and implement solutions.

  • Audit systems, and assets and propose improvement measures where required.

  • Procure and preserve assets, information security, and control structures.

  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software, and resources.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor in IT.

  • Aspiring IT practitioner with at least 3 years of relevant experience

  • Individuals with proven working experience in the education/research sectors will be considered favorably.

  • Functional Competencies (e.g., knowledge of contract management, data analysis)

  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems.

  • Understanding of IT governance and processes.

  • Hands-on experience with computer systems and hardware; and

  • Vendor management

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good prioritization skills and flexible enough to adapt plans.

  • Good evaluation skills.

  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and listening).

  • Confidence in decision-making.

  • Good team-playing mentality.

  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and within constraints; and

  • Honest & trustworthy.
