Drawing on unparalleled access to the multi-disciplinary expertise of 16 other NUS Faculties/Schools, SCALE offers youth, executive and professional development/education programmes, part-time and full-time degree programmes, as well as modular courses that may be taken singly or stacked towards certificates/diplomas/degrees that meet the lifelong learning needs of individuals.  All programmes are designed and developed in consultation with the industry to ensure relevance and currency.


About the Role

To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join our eLearning team as Junior Instructional Designer  

Reporting to the Manager (eLearning) the incumbent shall conceptualise, design, and develop engaging learning materials for both full online and blended learning courses.

This role is offered on a 3-year renewable contract basis; renewal is subject to satisfactory job performance. 
Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with annual variable bonus which is subject to incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies. 

The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.


Key Duties & Responsibilities 
•    Advise both internal and external clients on the best online/blended-learning approaches and solutions.
•    Conduct needs analysis with the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design curriculum and courseware for effective online/blended learning.
•    Work closely with SME and production team to design and develop e-learning content that may consist of an assortment of media types such as video, animation, and other instructional technologies.
•    Write scripts and produce storyboards for various instructional materials.
•    Design in-class learning activities that complement online instruction.
•    Perform functional testing of on-line courseware and ensure that courseware meets NUS academic quality.
•    Implement quality improvement plans using data collection instruments to monitor learning outcomes, evaluate effectiveness, and make adjustments to content/pedagogy.
•    Monitor and identify trends in instructional design of online/blended learning courses.


Qualifications

Requirements:
•    Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Psychology, Instructional Technology, Mass Communication, or related qualifications
•    Strong writing and visualisation skills
•    Able to juggle multiple priorities and projects
•    Working knowledge of authoring tools such as Captivate, Storyline, Photoshop and Illustrator is advantageous


Experience & Attributes 
•    Ideally, one year working experience in curriculum design, instructional design, content development and training practices; fresh university graduates would be considered as well.
•    Driven self-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•    Results-driven, self-motivated, and highly disciplined.
•    Good storyteller with strong verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong team player, with good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
•    Resilient, resourceful with good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented and ambiguous work environment.
