Job Description

Job Purpose:
As part of Centre for Healthcare Simulation (CHS), you will provide support in developing, training, implementing and coordinating the use of Standardised Patients (SPs) in undergraduate Nursing and Medical education at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies as well as the Faculties of Dentistry and Pharmacy. You will train faculty and staff regarding the use of SPs in the teaching and assessment of students. You will work closely with the team to integrate SPs into all settings e.g., hybrid simulation, interprofessional education, etc.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and training of SP’s for teaching sessions
Work closely with program leads in training SPs for clinical skills and communication teaching sessions with on-site support for actual teaching days (inclusive of provision of moulage). 
Liaise with faculty to implement best practice for lesson setup and scheduling SPs for clinical and communication teaching and assessment sessions
 
2. Recruitment and training of SP’s for examination sessions
Work closely with internal colleagues in setting up and providing suitable SPs for undergraduate and postgraduate examinations with on-site support for actual examination days. This includes preparing of moulages required for the examination.
 
3. Recruitment, Training and Development of SP’s
Organize and coordinate regular recruitment exercises for SPs, participate in interviews with Director and assess suitability of candidates 
In collaboration with fellow SPEs, provide regular focused training for SPs to prepare them for various teaching and assessment activities.
Co- facilitate at student and faculty workshops on communication skills and SP methodology.
Audit SP's performance and evaluate the suitability of the SPs for teaching purposes
 
4. Data Management and Tracking
Maintain the SP database to ensure accurate tracking of SP details and remuneration.
 
5. Teaching Methodology
Together with NUSSP Program Director and various stakeholders, promote SP teaching methodology in enhancing learning for students
Develop teaching materials and videos related to SP methodology
 
6. Research
Provide fieldwork support to Program Director for SPs-related research projects
 
7. Support and Ad-hoc
Provide support to any other Simulation Centre teaching activities and events. Any other ad hoc duty assigned by RO.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Allied Healthcare. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in healthcare field will be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A good team player who can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Possesses strong coordination skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and willing to work with IT systems.
  • Willingness to learn new things and take on new responsibilities
  • Willing to work on weekends when required
