The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites applications for the Technical Specialist position in the Physical Education & Sports Science Academic Group (PESS AG). This is a 2-year contract post.

Responsibilities

To supervise the operations of sports facilities office at PESS AG which includes:

  • Supervision of a team of sports facilities staff in the daily operations and ensure the safe and efficient running of all sports facilities.
  • Oversees the safety SOPs for all sports facilities including risk assessments, incident reporting, safety manuals, etc.
  • Manage the budgeting and procurement matters relating to sports facilities’ equipment, maintenance contracts, etc.
  • Ensure that all maintenance contracts for sports facilities are carried out and completed.
  • Administer stock checks and inventory updates.
  • Oversee the facilities booking systems for all PESS sports facilities and provide updates to PESS management on the utilisation rates.
  • Manage the bookings and billings for usage of sports facilities by external organisations.
  • Assist lecturers to set up sports equipment for classes and provide logistics support for sports related events.
  • Conduct safety briefing for users and visitors of PESS sports facilities.
  • Perform opening and locking of all sports facilities during morning and evening shifts respectively.
  • Perform counter duties such as issuing of equipment and booking of facilities.
  • Conduct site check on usage of the sports facilities to ensure that users adhere to rules and regulations.
  • Carry out first aid duties in the event of injuries.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by PESS management.

Planning and Professional Development

  • Propose plans for upgrading and maintenance of sport facilities and equipment at PESS.
  • Oversee the monthly duty roster for sports facilities staff.
  • Assist in preparing the developmental plans for facilities staff.

Requirements

  • A Polytechnic Diploma in Sport Management, Exercise or Sports Science or other relevant qualifications.
  • Previous supervisory experience (especially in sport related industries would be an advantage).
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Google Docs.
  • Experience in handling and managing sporting equipment/facilities.
  • Certification in Standard First Aid & AED would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Able to perform shift work. (Working hours: Morning shift: 8am to 5.15pm, Afternoon shift: 12.45pm to 10pm).
