Job Description

The Centre for Development of Teaching and Learning (CDTL) invites applications for the position of Senior Education Specialist / Education Specialist. 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to each of the following key areas: 

1) Academic development:


a) Plan, design, develop and conduct high-quality pedagogical and technology enhanced teaching and learning activities (e.g. courses and workshops) for academic staff and / or students.
b) Provide pedagogical advice to academic staff on re-design of modules (e.g. curricular planning and instructional design), including blended learning modules
c) Work in teams to support academic staff to develop blended learning modules
d) Development of online resources, including online courses, infographics, instructional videos, podcasts, etc.

 

2) Education research:


a) Actively pursue a research agenda (SoTL and / or education research)
b) Collaborate with academic staff and / or students on SoTL and / or education research projects
c) Provide one-on-one or one-to-small group collaborative consultation to academic staff on the scholarship of teaching and learning and education research
d) Make research public by contributing to educational publications and presenting at conferences
e) Engage in educational research projects at CDTL and institutional education research for university-level projects

 

3) Special projects assigned by the Director, CDTL. 


Qualifications
  • at least a master’s degree in education or a related field
  • at least 3 years of post-master’s degree experience in:

(a) designing and conducting courses and / or workshops on pedagogical, educational technology, and other interrelated topics for academic staff and / or students
(b) providing collaborative consultation to academic staff 
(c) involved in education research specifically in the areas of impact/outcomes assessment at module/programme level 

  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to manage different, interrelated tasks in an efficient and timely fashion
