Job Description

The incumbent will provide support to the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following -

  • Critical analysis and characterization of samples for students and researchers from department, other departments in NUS and external organizations.
  • Maintenance of the various instruments.
  • Perform regular testing to ensure accurate operations.
  • Troubleshoot, running of samples and training of users.
  • Provide professional consultation and interpretation of acquired data.
  • Examination duties and scripts checking.
  • Familiar with the instrumentation, maintenance and troubleshooting of several equipment as listed below
    • Inductively coupled plasma (ICP)
    • Ion chromatography (IC)
    • Microwave digester
    • CHNS elemental analyser
    • Thermal gravimetric analyser (TGA)
    • Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
    • Thermal gravimetric analyser with mass spectrometry (TGA-MS)
    • Fluorescence lifetime (FL)
    • Raman Microscopy
  • Any other ad hoc activities as assigned by the Department, i.e. outreach, examinations, IT, conference events, safety roles such as fire warden or first aider.

  • Qualifications
    • University degree in Chemistry or related subject.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
    • Independent and good team player. 
    • Highly committed with good service-oriented attitude.
