The NUS Office of University Communications (UCO) is seeking an experienced science communications professional who has strong competencies in writing and producing content relating to the University’s exciting and ground-breaking research advancements.
The ideal candidate should be passionate about science and is able to understand complex scientific information, theories and practices. He or she should be able to write in clear, concise and accurate language that can be understood by the general public.
The candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently and at the same time be a good team player. He or she needs to be proactive, organised, and meticulous. The candidate must also be able to multi-task as well as work within tight deadlines.
Key responsibilities:
·       Research, write and edit scientific news, articles and  features
·       Conduct interviews with scientists and academics
·       Select or create different types of content to enhance a story, e.g. videos and photographs



  • PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or engineering

  • At least 5 years of experience in science communications, or related areas

  • Possess an excellent command of English, with strong editing and writing skills

  • Able to interact well with all levels

  • A good team player with the ability to work independently

  • Experience in writing for online platforms

  • Experience in conceptualising graphic and video content to enhance research stories
