The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERIAN) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. 

The Research Fellow will work in a project context whose ultimate objective is to develop technologies for validating AV behaviour and AV Perception Systems at a system level. Responsibilities will include development of metrics and methodologies for the validation of Autonomous Vehicles through analysis, simulation, software-in-the-loop and lab testing. The research will work with other Research Fellows Engineers to develop the required methodologies, publish papers and work with the agency (LTA) to support and improve methodologies in the LTA Milestone Framework tests.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the technical aspects of the project and ensure that the deliverables are delivered on time.
  • Manage stakeholder’s expectations.
  • Validate project goals against existing technical standards and identify gaps and propose research activities required to fill these gaps.
  • Perform analysis, lab and field testing on sensors and sensor systems.
  • Organize meetings and intermediate technical progress reviews.
  • Make presentations to partners.

Job Requirements:

  • Holder of an engineering PhD, preferably in the field of science, engineering, complex systems or control with a good understanding of sensors and sensor systems.
  • Candidates with knowledge in automotive domain or safety critical systems will be preferred.
  • Strong analysis skills and a good understanding of sensors and vehicle systems and performance of these systems.
  • Knowledge of the stakes and system safety challenges associated with the validation of autonomous vehicles is preferred.
  • Skills in using simulation for system design validation.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • With analytical skills, strong autonomy and team spirit, the research fellow will have to demonstrate a keen sense of organization and perform the tasks assigned to him/her rigorously.
  • Ability to work as a Research Fellow, reporting on progress and communicating results.
