Job Description – Cyber Security Technology Engineer, iTrust, Centre for Research in Cyber Security

SUTD seeks to hire one qualified individual to fill the position of Cyber Security Technology Engineer at iTrust.

The engineer will report to the Director, iTrust Laboratories of iTrust. She/he will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Research experimentation and engineering support
  • Management and administration of Secure Water Treatment (SWaT) testbed . The engineer will also be required to shadow other testbed engineers in order to facilitate continuous operation during each other’s absence
  • Testbed safety, maintenance and upgrade
  • iTrust infrastructure support (e.g. firewall, NAS and servers)
  • Offensive research and engineering (e.g. ICS attack benchmarking research, experimentation and engineering)
  • Industrial incident technical report writing
  • Students internship/mentorship supervision
  • Cyber exercises and technology validation support
  • Testbeds visit and tours

iTrust is a centre for research and education in Cyber Security, established jointly by Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Singapore.

Researchers, local and international, and students involved in iTrust conduct cutting edge research in many areas of cyber security with an initial focus on security and safety of secure Cyber Physical Systems (CPS).  iTrust laboratories is a crucial component of the centre and serves as a realistic testbed for the assessment of the effectiveness of algorithms and techniques resulting from research. The laboratory is used for experiment, educational, training/exercise and outreach purposes. SUTD aims at making iTrust a world-class centre in the domain of cyber security.

An ideal candidate would be an independent and resourceful individual, with technical know-how and a willingness to learn and explore unfamiliar topics. Interactions with faculty, staff, as well as personnel from the government and industry will be a part of the day-to-day activities of the Engineer.

This is a two and a half-year contract.

Applicants must have acquired:

  • technical knowledge in programming and networking,
  • exposure to cyber security training, Structured Text, Ladder Logic or Function Block will be an added advantage, and
  • at least 2 years of working experience.
