A Research Fellow position is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Job Description:

  • To design fibre optic sensors installation layout in the underground tunnels to ensure accuracy and reliability in the measurements

  • To install and calibrate sensors on tunnel liners and railway tracks

  • To set up cable connection for fiber optic sensors and conduct real-time and continuous monitoring

  • To conduct structural analysis and evaluate performance of liners and tracks during operation

  • To develop efficient machine learning algorithms for fault diagnosis and prognosis

  • To implement the fibre optic sensing system installation on tunnel liners and tracks

  • To develop AI algorithms for performance assessment and prediction

  • To write project reports and scientific research papers for publication

  • To make presentations and document project information

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Knowledge of fiber optic sensing, data acquisition and communication

  • Knowledge of data analytics and AI

  • Publication track record is an advantage

  • Proficiency in English
