The requested Research Fellow will be working with Prof. Shengyuan Yang on the theoretical and computational investigations of the physical properties of novel topological materials. The research works involves search of novel topological materials via first-principles calculations, computational and analytical modeling of electronic band structures, and investigating their topological properties. Job period is for one year and can be extended based on performance. Competitive salary will be provided.

The applicant needs to have PhD degree with strong theoretical condensed matter physics background. He/she should have rich experience in first-principles computational studies of materials, especially should be experienced with topological insulators and topological semimetal materials and high throughput computations. The candidate should have strong publication record in topological materials research. The candidate should be able to use DFT softwares packages including VASP, WIEN2k, FPLO, and can do programming in Fortran or Python and parallel programming with MPI. The candidate should have skills of symmetry analysis, topology analysis, and be able to construct tight-binding and effective kp models.
