Research Fellow (Precast)

Updated: 25 days ago
Location: Kent Ridge,
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Job Description

This project aims to investigate the robustness of precast concrete structures against progress collapse induced by column loss scenarios. Focusing on two beam-column precast concrete connections that the research group is working on, the RF will help to coordinate the experimental tests on the precast concrete subframes. The RF will also carry out FE simulations on the precast concrete structure, to understand and predict the overall structural response due to different column loss scenarios. Finally, based on the experimental and/or numerical data, a reduced order modelling approach will be developed to facilitate practical implementation by engineers.

Job Requirements

Possess a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field, with experience in the following:
•    Engineering designs of concrete structures according to industry codes;
•    Experimental tests with concrete subframes;
•    FE analysis of concrete structures with full component details, e.g. using ABAQUS or LS-DYNA;
•    FE structural analysis using e.g. ETABS.
•    Good written and spoken communications.
•    Open to fixed term contract
