Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP) in School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Fellow.

A research fellow will work in Professor Shen’s research group to work on the low-dimensional perovskite heterostructures project. They will work on optical spectroscopy, characterization and synthesis of perovskite materials; along with temperature, high-pressure characterisation and simulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research on the fundamental studies of hybrid perovskites and perovskite-based heterostructures

  • Carrying out sample preparation, high-pressure and low-temperature experiments and data analysis

  • Carrying out optical spectroscopy experiments

  • Helping to supervise students and teaching assistance

  • Arranging and conducting collaborative projects.

  • Managing the lab equipment (Witec and Renishaw optical setups, lasers, diamond anvil cells, and other) and possible equipment/materials purchases.

  • Writing and publication of papers.

  • Assisting in writing research proposals

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science or related field

  • Experience in vibrational and optical spectroscopy

  • Experience in high pressure techniques, diamond anvil cell and cryogenic experiments is preferred

  • Experience in quantum simulations is preferred

  • Strong oral and writing communication skills

  • Able to work in team and with collaborators
