Research Fellow (Nanophotonics)

A Research Fellow position is currently available in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS).

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducting literature review

  • Carrying out device fabrication related activities assigned by Principal Investigator (PI)

  • Disseminating the outcomes of research in peer-reviewed journals

  • Perform simulation for device optimization

  • Modelling and simulation of light matter interaction

  • Micro-nano fabrication using cleanroom processes

  • Nanophotonic/metamaterial device design and fabrication

  • Make regular progress report to PI.


Job Requirements

  • Must have Ph.D. in Applied Physics, or stream associated with applied optics and photonics

  • Experience in modelling and fabrication of nanophotonics and metamaterials based tunable optical devices

  • Understanding of fundamental principles photonic devices and systems

  • Experience in using FDTD, MATLAB, and COMSOL multiphysics software platforms

  • Experience in sputtering, UV lithography, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Profilometry 

  • Actively involved in simulation and fabrication of nanophotonics based all-silicon waveguiding devices, that have great potential for information and communication technologies, terahertz integrated circuits, and interconnects for intra-chip and inter-chip communication
