Research Fellow (Nanocatalyst)

Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize quantum-confined material model catalysts.

  • Develop multiscale, in-situ complex measurement platforms to collect multidimensional information during catalytic reactions, including chemical, electronic, and optical signals, from nanosized to bulk samples.

  • Explore the electronics of the electrolyte-catalysis interface on the atomic scale, provide an understanding of carrier transport within the catalyst and carrier transfer at the electrolyte-catalyst interface.

  • explore the impact of quantum numbers on the electronic behaviour of the catalysts

  • Develop catalytic reactions tuned by the electron spin and magnetic degrees of freedom

  • Engineer the carrier transport at the electrolyte-catalyst interface through developing tunnelling-based catalysis to prolong the lifetime of quantum-sized catalysis;

  • Study the surface state of the semiconductor catalyst as a novel approach to exploit self-induced conductivity to avoid the need for costly conductive additives in practical applications.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in materials, chemistry or physics.

  • More than 5 years research fellow experience with the following expertise

  • Materials synthesis: wafer-size fabrication of 2D films e.g., MoS2, PtSe2, MoSe2 films, by using chemical vapor deposition, e-beam deposition of metal films

  • Materials characterization: TEM, SEM, XRD, XPS, Raman etc.

  • Device fabrication: photolithography, e-beam lithography, plasma etching, electrode fabrication, 2D transfer/stacking, etc.

  • Performance evaluation: field-effect transistor, photodetector, and micro-electrochemical measurement including single-nanowire and single-nanosheet

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Hiring Institution: NTU
