The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Associate Professor Francesc Xavier Roca Castella at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on the alternative splicing on human myeloid cells including neutrophils, and the role of RBM47 in these cells.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and executing the experiments and in silico analyses for the alternative splicing in human neutrophils and other myeloid cells mainly in cell lines, as well as the role of the RBM47 protein.

  • Interpret the data and highlight its implications.

  • Prepare the manuscript as well as other presentations internal and external, including abstracts and talks at international conferences.

  • Training and mentoring of undergrad interns and/or PhD students, thereby contributing to the scientific nurture and productivity of the whole lab.

Job Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in Biology, Molecular and/or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or related areas, with focus on RNA splicing or related areas

  • Experience in at least five of these skills: (1) cell culture, (2) standard molecular biology, (3) RNA biology, (4) immunology, (5) splicing, and (6) next generation sequencing, and (7) bioinformatics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Strong publication record
