Research Fellow (Finite Element Simulations)

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is a globally renowned college department and boasts well-established industry partnerships with prominent companies such as Rolls-Royce, General Electric, HP Inc, Pratt & Whitney and Singapore Airlines. Highly regarded faculty members provide a wealth of collective expertise in traditional and emerging mechanical and aerospace engineering, and in specialities including advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, innovative design, nanotechnology, and biomedical and computational applications. Established since 1981, the school has evolved and established a wide-reaching community globally.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To conduct simulations in static and dynamic mechanical simulations (shock, vibration) to complement experimental results

  • To conduct analysis and modelling of results

  • To conduct fabrication and testing of samples for validation where appropriate

  • To write up reports and give presentations on findings

Job Requirements: 

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Engineering or related field

  • Knowledge in Finite Element Simulations, Mechanics of Materials and Dynamics

  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics an advantage 

  • Experience with Mechanical Assemblies and Robotics an advantage

  • Proficiency in English (oral and written)

  • Proven expertise with past projects an advantage

  • Publication and/or technical disclosure track record is an advantage

  • Self-motivated, independent and can work well in a team

  • Excellent knowledge in finite element simulations, mechanics of materials and dynamics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language is expected.
