The Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management (ICRM) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow. 


Key Responsibilities: 

The Research Fellow shall conduct research work on a few important topics listed as below for critical event monitoring and situation awareness for resilient cyber-physical systems

  • Studying on feasibility and limitation of using existing devices in risk detection and situation awareness in cyber-physical systems, especially power systems.
  • Studying and developing methods for risk detection and situation awareness by using information from multiple different sources.
  • Developing algorithms and simulation programs for evaluating and improving the performance of the existing schemes when under incomplete/inaccurate information;
  • Developing fault-tolerant scheme designs that work for distributed systems and generating corresponding performance evaluation results.
  • Identifying critical situation awareness needed in system recovery.
  • Study results to be presented as publications, reports, simulation programs and simulation results.
  • Work closely with other FRS-II team members


Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, control system and control engineering, or computer science, with solid background knowledge in power systems and related research experiences in control, situation awareness, risk detection and/or signal processing in complex cyber-physical systems, esp. power systems.
  • Smooth programming skills and oral/writing communication skills.
  • Extensive collaborations with many team members working for the same programme are expected to happen.
