Job Description
Job Purpose

Department of Medicine is a cluster comprising of multiple specialties, including Endocrinology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, General Medicine (Dermatology & Geriatrics inclusive), Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Psychological Medicine, Rheumatology, and Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine. You will assist the Principal Investigator within our cluster with the conduct of research projects, and related duties as assigned to ensure the success of these projects.


Job description: 

Laboratory:

  • Design and conduct molecular cloning experiments for platform development
  • Perform in vivo screens using luciferase
  • Carry out molecular biology and biochemistry protocols for
    • RNA/DNA extraction, RNA pulldown, FISH and reporter constructs
    • qPCR and RT-PCR for splice isoforms
  • Participate in project lab, team or company meetings and scientific discussions

Qualifications

The applicant should have: 

  • Doctorate degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience
  • Good experience with molecular cloning techniques and tissue culture
  • Has knowledge of RNA biology (structures, splicing)
  • Prior experience with RNA structures is preferred

Skills
  • Independent, with strong emphasis on team work
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, is meticulous, organized, proactive and have an investigative nature
  • Proficiency in MS office applications, (e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint), Snapgene
  • Good written and communication skills
