A Research Fellow position is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Job Description:
Perform niche research of fundamental and applied research in structural health monitoring with applications to civil, mechanical and related disciplines.
Lead/engage in research activities encompassing theory development, computation, experiments in lab and field setting, collaboration, dissemination and impact activities with academia, industry and government agencies
Assist in supervising student projects and related activities
Develop theory and computational tools for niche problems in SHM or related areas
Perform vibration or related experiments under laboratory and field environment
Job Requirements:
PhD in civil, mechanical or related disciplines, with interest in a research career in academia or industry
Independent, responsible, self-motivated and creative, with strong problem-solving skills and strong interest in learning new knowledge, possibly out of comfort zone
Required: Excellent technical writing (e.g., journal papers & reports) in English, good English communication skills; proficiency with Matlab; strong research skills with structural dynamics (theory and computation), stochastic process and random vibrations, probabilistic methods
Preferred: Experience with structural modal or model identification, vibration experiments in laboratory or field setting, demonstrable interest or experience with data science theory, programming and related IT
