A Research Fellow position is currently available in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS). The Research Fellow will apply mathematical optimization tools and machine learning techniques to optimize design parameters of photonic devices (waveguide, antenna) for high-speed communication and beam steering applications.

Job Description:

  • Conducting literature review

  • Carrying out research related activities assigned by Principal Investigator

  • Disseminating the outcomes of research in peer-reviewed journals

  • Perform mathematical optimization and machine learning based extensive analysis for device optimization.

  • Conduct free space THz communication, and antenna characterization experiments.

  • Make regular progress report to PI

Job Requirements:

  • Must have Ph.D. in Applied Physics, or Electronics and Communication or stream associated with THz/MM-wave photonics.

  • Good R&D ability and experience in data science, AI, machine learning, deep learning or related areas,

  • Good communication skills with strong aptitude to lead and manage AI translational research works.

  • Experience in using FDTD, MATLAB, and COMSOL multiphysics software platforms.

  • Understanding of fundamental principles photonic devices and systems.

  • Familiar with the modeling and testing of metasurface based antennas.

  • Experience in free space terahertz characterization experiments.

  • Experience in all the following areas – Antenna design, Terahertz communication, Mathematical optimization, Machine learning, Photonic devices.

  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation software such as CST Microwave studio, Lumerical, Matlab, Python.
