The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) welcome applications for a Research Fellow position on Air Traffic Management (ATM) at the Saab-NTU Joint Lab at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The Research Fellow will join a vibrant and dynamic research team studying the use of Artificial Intelligence and Data-Driven Machine Learning techniques for the development of Next-Generation ATM assistance tools for Remote Airport Tower Control.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct research and development related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applied to Air Traffic Management (ATM)

  • Develop algorithms and models, perform data processing & mining, and perform analytics for future ATM systems

  • Provide support on the implementation and verification of an AI-based Digital Tower Control assistance system.

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science / Aerospace Engineering / Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines.

  • Deep understanding and experience in the theory and application of Data Processing, AI and Machine Learning techniques (required).

  • Programming Experience: knowledge of Python, Matlab, R and/or C++ (required).

  • Demonstrated project experience related to Airport or Air Traffic Management (highly desirable).

  • Software Engineering Experience: understanding and experience of sound Software Engineering practices, including data management, software version control and database design (highly desirable).

  • Skills and Experience related to Unmanned aircraft system Traffic Management (UTM) are highly desirable.

  • Skills and Experience in Computational modelling are highly desirable.

  • Good English writing and communication skills (required).

  • Writing  report of experiments, research manuscripts and technical reports and research presentation at appropriate venues.

  • Mentoring of undergraduate students.

  • Development of software prototype and simulation platforms.
