Research Associate (Heritage/Design)

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) is seeking a part-time Research Associate for 7 months to investigate the cultural heritage of Thaipusam in Singapore. The candidate will collaborate with PI on research and contribute to various activities, including visual documentation, data analysis, IRB applications, manuscript preparation, and report preparation. The role will also involve organizing team meetings, engaging with Thaipusam community members, and mentoring students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect visual documentation (photography, drawings, video materials)

  • Conduct interviews and engage with members from the Thaipusam community

  • Responsible for data analysis and secondary sources review.

  • Compile IRB applications

  • Manage and archive of documentation collected

  • Coordination of research in conjunction with Research PI

  • Preparation of manuscripts and editorial assistance

  • Book design

  • Website design

  • Coordinate and obtain image and footage rights

  • Prepare reports

  • Organise project team meetings

  • Mentor students in research

Job Requirements:

  • Master in Art or Design and relevant experience in working on similar research projects

  • Advanced knowledge in graphic design, museum and heritage studies

  • Knowledge in organizational research skills
