The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Nanyang Technological Univerisity is seeking a smart, highly motivated, and open-minded research fellow. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Kim Jinwoo, Assistant Professor, School of CEE, NTU (https://sites.google.com/view/jinwoo-kim ), to design, implement, and lead research in the broad area of construction digitalisation and robotics. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, conducting one or more research projects on AI applications for construction management, while working on research proposals and publishing research papers in top-tier journals and conferences.

Job Description:

  • Work with Prof. Kim Jinwoo to design, conduct, and lead research in the broad area of construction digitalisation and robotics

  • Design, develop and re-envision aspects of construction AI/digitalisation/robotics

  • Conduct theoretical and practical research on monitoring, modelling and predicting human psychophysiological responses and behaviours; and measuring, quantifying, and analysing the complex relationships between human factors and construction project performances

  • Work on research grant proposals with Prof. Jinwoo Kim

  • Publish research findings in top-tier journals and conferences

  • Mentor MS students and supervise undergraduate students

  • Collaborate with internal and external academic groups, such as other NTU/international research groups, industry partners, etc

  • Proactively contribute to all aspects of research, teaching, and service

  • Support course/curriculum development efforts


Job Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Construction, Industrial, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, etc.), Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, execute and manage research projects independently

  • Strong interest in construction digitalisation and robotics and solid foundation in one or more of the followings: Python, C/C++, and MATLAB

  • Excellent computer programming skills for one or more of the followings: Python, C/C++, Java, and MATLAB

  • Proficiency in simulation techniques, such as System Dynamics, Discrete Event Simulation, and Agent-Based Modelling, is a plus

  • A strong publication record in top-tier journals and conferences

  • Fluency in academic and technical communication (oral and written)

  • Solid foundation and experience in one or more of the following areas: Construction AI/Digitalisation/Robotics, Human Behaviours, Computer Vision, Wearable Sensing, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Generative AI, Building Information Modelling, and Complex Systems Modelling
