Research Associate (Climate Processes)

A Research Associate position is currently available in the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS).

The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

As part of this programme, the Climate Processes and Extremes research cluster will address key knowledge gaps in the understanding and modelling of the physical processes and impacts of climate change, with specific focus on Singapore and the equatorial SEA region.

The Research Associate will be based in EOS and support the collection, processing and analysis of fieldwork samples and satellite imagery under the Climate Processes and Extremes research cluster.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research project management

  • Coordination with research stakeholders and vendors

  • Literature reviews to synthesize prior studies

  • Proposing, design, and implementation of research methodologies

  • Remote sensing and field data collection, storage and archival

  • Data processing, visualization, and analysis

  • Writing of proposals, reports, publications, and presentation materials

  • Administrative duties as assigned by Principal Investigators

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in areas related to geography and earth science

  • Experience in geographic fieldwork and laboratory works

  • Experience in geographic information systems, remote sensing, and statistics

  • Experience in academic report writing or paper publication

  • Experience with project management and fieldwork

  • Strong communication and organization skills
