Job Responsbilities

 

The Research Assistant will participate in seagrass research, with a specific focus on studying effects of nutrient enrichment on marine plants. The Research Assistant will lead and execute aquarium experiments, laboratory analysis and field sampling. Specific tasks include planning and conducting experiments, running laboratory analyses, collection and analysis of data, and performing basic administrative duties.

 

This position reports to the Principal Investigator at Tropical Marine Science Institute and is based at St John Island National Marine Laboratory on offshore St John Island, Singapore. This position is for 1 year; after the first year, renewal is subjected to performance review.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science, Environmental Science, or related field 
  • Proficient with basic Microsoft Suite
  • Prior experience with seawater aquarium facilities and/or field work is highly preferred.
  • Must be willing to do intertidal field work, which entails working in muddy environment and working around low tide timings.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and a keen interest in research
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English
