Job description:

The research engineer is to support an ongoing collaborative project with DSO, titled “Unmanned Aeriel Deployment Techniques for Sensors”.

The research engineer will be responsible for a sub-project focusing on researching and developing an effective technique to encapsulate UV curable resin; the research scope includes literature review, design and perform experiments on encapsulation techniques, characterized the controlled release of the UV resin, and at a later stage work closely with other sub-task members to integrate the method into the unmanned aeriel vehicle.

Description of the research project:

The is a multi-disciplinary project under which a specific research task seeks to research and develop an encapsulation material and processes to encapsulate light sensitive resin (precursors to polymers).   The research scope includes literature review, develop experimental strategies to achieve protection of UV resin against pre-mature curing yet capable of trigger release of the resin, perform characterization and writing technical report and manuscript.  At a later stage of the project, the developed method will be integrated with a robotic model to demonstrate the controlled release of the resin.

Preferred technical background: B.Sc or B.Eng or M.Sc or M.Eng, material science and engineering with hands-on experience and or interest to acquire skills in material design and 3D printing processes.  The candidate is also expected to collaborate with the project team for the integration of various sub-tasks of the overall project.
