Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics, School of Computing. The School of Computing is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights, developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building large-scale experimental systems and improving the well-being of society. We seek to play an active role both internationally and locally in the core and emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.
The Research Assistant will support the research agenda on App Economy (e-commerce-related topic), and Innovation (patent-citation networks). The research projects are at the intersection of economics and computer science. Specifically, the projects on mobile apps use deep learning-based natural language processing models (GPT-4, ROBERTa, etc.) to extract information from textual data and use that information in an econometric model to obtain strategic and actionable insights for product developers. The projects on patent citation networks use network analysis and econometrics. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in cutting-edge research in data science, business analytics, or economics. The Research Assistant will work directly with the PI and learn about how to handle large volumes of data and code systematically, understand various deep learning and econometric methods, and how research papers are developed and written.
Job Requirements
- Possess experience in Data Engineering and text analytics using Python or R.
- Good English written and oral communication skills.

- Excellent coding skills
- Good grades in programming and ML related or econometric courses
